After passing the Royal College of Veterinary Standards (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme (PSS), Donaldsons Vets are proud to announce Somerset Road Hospital has maintained its hospital accreditation.

We are also proud to announce that Thongsbridge, Birchencliffe, Mirfield, Sowerby Bridge and Shepley surgeries have now achieved General Practice Accreditation.

What is an RCVS accredited Veterinary Practice?

RCVS accredited practices were set up by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in 2005, to promote and maintain high standards in veterinary care.

To become accredited, practices volunteer for rigorous assessment every 4 years (although, practices are subject to spot checks at any time between assessments)

Practices must meet and maintain specific standards, some of these include an emphasis on cleanliness and sterility, 24-hour emergency cover, patient care and monitoring, continued staff training and development and specialist equipment.

The RCVS assessment involves all of our teams, not just the vets and nurses.

What is the Practice Standards Scheme (PSS)?

The RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS). It is a voluntary initiative to accredit veterinary practices in the UK.

By setting high standards and carrying out regular assessments, the Practice Standards Scheme aims to ensure that the highest standards of veterinary care are maintained and promoted.

PSS provides clients with peace of mind when using accredited practices, while providing a more informed choice when choosing veterinary care.
